AN OUTPOST PRODUCTION
Being a horticulturist (a big word for a gardener I guess), when I see a beautiful and well-designed garden, I recognize that a lot of work and time has gone into it. Behind it is a person that I can’t see, but I know that someone is behind it. It’s an obvious fact.
When I get out into the world’s largest gardens, such as the Barrington Tops, I also have no doubt that behind this great garden is a great Gardener who has designed it and created it. The answer to the question, ‘is anyone out there,’ really isn’t that difficult to answer when you think about all that is such places as the Barrington Tops. All the interacting parts and how the whole system fits together - what a Gardener must be behind it!
Before these great gardens existed, a designing God existed. The Bible begins with, ‘In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth (Genesis 1:1).’ What that means is that God existed before the world did and that He is the One who designed, created and put it all together.
One of the characteristics of God is that He is eternal. That’s a fairly difficult concept for us to get a hold of, yet none-the-less, God has always been there. There will never be a time when God isn’t there. He is always out there.
‘Before the mountains were brought forth, or ever You had formed the earth and the world, even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God (Psalm 90:2).’ ‘But You, O Lord, shall endure forever ... (Psalm 102:12).’
This is known not only from the Bible, for there is much more proof for the existence of God. Consider what the Bible points to as evidence of God’s existence.
‘The heavens declare the glory of God; and the skies show the work of His hands (Psalm 19:1).’ ‘For since the creation of the world God’s invisible attributes are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even His eternal power and divine nature, so that men are without excuse (Romans 1:20).’
Everything that exists in the natural world is clear evidence of God’s existence. There is no real excuse for not believing in God, for the evidence is clearly before you each day and night, yet most people do not believe that God is there.
‘Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1).’
Why is it that most people don’t believe in God? It’s because they don’t have faith. Ask God to give you His gift of faith so that you might be able to believe in Him. We learn a lot about God, faith and how to become a Christian at church and our Bible Studies. Why not come along and see for yourself? Why not come and see? You’re welcome to come.
