The Lilley/Matthews Mailout - January 2003
Issue Four
Welcome to The Lilley/Matthews Mailout for January 2003. It seems like only recently that I put out the last newsletter (probably because it was only recently), yet a lot has happened at the site since then. Not only is there a version of the family tree now operational from the web page, but many other things have been added as the rest of the newsletter will make clear.
Special thanks this month to Sally Northey, who is a descendent of Jame Blanch and Mary Balcomb. Sally passed onto me a bit of information that helped to fill a few holes in the family tree by way of marriage dates, birth dates, middle names, etc. Hopefully the website proved of some help to her also as she continues her research in genealogy.
If you have any material that may be of assistance and you are willing to give it or lend it to me, please contact me via email at nrbcpastorkev@yahoo.com.au I am especially interested in gaining photographs, historical documents, etc.
CONTENTS:
Website Update
Quite a lot of content has been added to the site, including the family tree of course. New content includes a number of articles relating to Samuel Lilley and Swan Bay (including photos of the Mulwee School and Swan Bay Brickworks site).
Also from the articles page you will find links to a bibliography that I am slowly putting together, as well as cemetery transcriptions that have relevance to this site.
I have also added quite a lot of new photos to the various photo albums for your enjoyment (still with more to come). Perhaps you have some photos that I can add to the albums of your family or people related to our family. If so, do as my brother did - scan them in as bmp images and send them to me via email. Or you might loan them to me so that I can scan them in, then I will return them to you.
Mail Groups and Communities
If you have some familial relationship to the Lilley or Matthews family, please consider joining The Lilley Family Mail Group or The Matthews Family Mail Group for the purpose of receiving Emails from different family members all at the same time and being able to therefore share in a continuing online discussion with one another. All you have to do to join any of the mail groups is simply enter your email address below and press enter. It's that simple and you will then be able to participate with other family members in on-going discussions about what's happening in the family, with people you all know, etc. Give it a whirl.

Please join us here and make this site a meeting place for those in the family around the world.
Please note that the community groups listed with MSN have been dis-continued. In my opinion, Yahoo Mail Groups are the better option.
Family Tree
The family tree is now available online, but already needs updating with what I now have available. Updates to the online version will occur periodically. It actually takes something like eight hours to get the entire family tree information online, there being almost 11 000 files to upload.
Even though the information is always in need of an update, what you will find on the website will always prove useful to those who want to use it. It's not comprehensive I guess, but it must be close to being so - at least on my mum's side. There are very few listed on my father's side at this stage.
Visit the family tree page for more information and to access the tree.
If you are able to give information that will help in putting the family tree together, please pass it on to me. I'm looking for records, photos, background information, etc.
Kevin's Wilderness Journeys
Interested in looking at photos of places I have been over the years - then Kevin's Wilderness Journeys is the place to go. Here you will photos and information regarding various places throughout Australia. A fair amount of the information currently on the site was put together before the web site came about, so it's a little light on some information currently. All new trips I take will have more detailed information, links, etc.
I have recently updated the photos available on the site to include the last trip to Kaputar National Park, not far from Narrabri.
Stratford and Karuah Cemeteries - December 27, 2002
On December 27, 2002, I visited both Stratford and Karuah Cemeteries. The reason for my visits - to collect genealogical data of course. The fruit of my two visits are already online in the form of cemetery transcriptions. On this page you will find just what is written on the headstones of the graves of family members and associated people. I also took a few photos of several headstones and these will eventually appear online also.
