The Lilley/Matthews Mailout - June 2002

Welcome to The Lilley/Matthews Mailout for June 2002, a newsletter for occasional updates regarding the Kevin Matthews Online History Site and information regarding all things 'Lilley' and 'Matthews.' This is actually the first issue of the mailout and hopefully the first of many more. I'm looking for input from others in the family, so if you would like to add something please let me know and I will consider it for inclusion.

This issue will probably be small, but hopefully the mailouts will grow in size over time. There will be no set time for issues being sent forth. When I have enough to make up an issue I'll send one out. Please read this issue and hopefully enjoy it. If you don't want to keep getting it, please follow the instructions at the end of the newsletter.

Website Update

Not much has been happening on the site for a couple of months but that is all set to change. I hope to further update the family tree in the next couple of weeks (more on that below).

I have added a new page to the site - 'The Lilley/Matthews Photo Album.' When you visit you will see that not all the photos are yet up on the site (Image Station Site), but hopefully they soon will be. I have quite a few pictures scanned and ready to go. It just takes a little time to post them all.

If you have further pictures that I can put up relating to the aims of this site, then please send them to me (they will be returned to you when I'm done with them).

Please remember that this site is all about our family history, so anything of relevance to that can be added to the site here. I'm very liberal when it comes to an interpretation of that theme, so please let me know about anything that may have even the slightest relevance.

Genealogy Inquiry

In the last couple of days I received an email from Chrys Lilly asking whether we were related to the William Lilly who was married to Abigail Matthews. If you are able to shed any light on this please let me know at nrbcpastorkev@yahoo.com.au and contact Chrys Lilly at chryslilly1@yahoo.com. The email is posted in full below.

Mail Groups and Communities

Please consider joining The Lilley Family Mail Group or The Matthews Family Mail Group also, for the purpose of receiving Emails from different family members all at the same time and being able to therefore share in a continuing online discussion with one another.

Family Tree

I am slowly putting together an online version of my family tree. From time to time I will be adding to it. I use the GenoPro family tree software. Please take the time to download the excellent family tree software from GenoPro or you will not be able to view the Family Tree. This product is in fact shareware, but you are able to still use it for free. It's only 1.4 Mb, so it won't take very long to download and then install. This may be done via the GenoPro homepage at http://www.genopro.com/.

When you have successfully installed the software, click on the link to my family tree and check the button for open from here. The family tree will then open in your Internet browser. Note that is best to be using Internet Explorer 3.0 or later to view the family tree. If you don't have this installed you will need to have an Internet browser with an ActiveX plug-in.

Another suggestion would be to actually right click on the link to my family tree and open it in another window. If you do this you can simply close the window when you have finished viewing it. Apparently in some browsers you are unable to use the back button when you have finished viewing the family tree, therefore a separate window is probably best.

So what's the link to the family tree - here it is now: Kevin Matthews Family Tree.

If you are able to give information that will help in putting the family tree together, please pass it on to me. I'm looking for records, photos, background information, etc.
