ON THE ADVANTAGE AND NECESSITY OF PRAYER - Herman Witius:
The flesh concludes that prayer is SUPERFLUOUS; for why should we lay before God a wearisome enumeration of our wants, which, in proportion to its length and frequency, must be the more offensive? The Divine Being knows much better than we ourselves do what we want. And such a conclusion, we are told, ought not to be considered as unfounded, for it is not unlike what is stated by our Lord, Matt. vi. 31, 32. "Take no thought, saying, what shall we eat? or what shall we drink? or wherewithal shall we be clothed? For after all these things do the Gentiles seek; for your heavenly father knoweth that ye have need of these things."

KEVIN'S FAMILY - HISTORY SITE:
There isn't a lot of news to add about this site at the moment. All that I have really done in the last couple of months is to make all the photos available to view without the need of having to register with Image Station or any other photo hosting site. They are now all available to view from my site itself.

WHAT HAPPENED TODAY IN CHURCH HISTORY:
I have spent a bit of time reviewing and updating this section of the web site so that now there is quite a lot of information relating to what has happened in church history in the past. Simply click on the day of interest and see what happened on that day in church history.
Though there has been a lot of content added in the last couple of days, there will still be plenty more to come here as a result of my own study, research, etc. Perhaps you are also able to add something to this section of the site.

PRINCE MESSIAH'S CLAIMS TO DOMINIONS OVER ALL GOVERNMENTS -
James Willson:The Lord Jesus Christ exercises, as Mediator, the offices of prophet, priest and King. The church bore ample testimony to his prophetic office, in the early ages of Christianity, in the writings of the Fathers, in their suffering to the death for holding the truth of the Bible, to be a revelation from heaven.

THEOLOGY RESOURCES:
One of my aims with the Aussie Outpost web site is to provide a good resource pool for what I call the 'average Reformed Baptist.' I don't mean that in a bad way, but in the sense of the believer that may struggle to get hold of good reading material, not be able to get to a good church or Bible Study group, etc. I think the site has begun to reach this point, though it has a long way still to go.
There are several ways that I am attempting to provide good theological material to believers through the web site. One is by simply putting good material online myself. To do this I have a theology page with theological articles added, etc. This can be found at:
http://particularbaptist.com/theology/theology.html
I'm not all that impressed with how the material is currently presented and hope to improve the presentation in the future so that it is in a more readable form for downloading and printing, etc. The newest material I hope to add in this more presentable manner.
I have also added a School of Theology to assist believers. Obviously this school won't be of much help to the experts or more advanced theological thinkers, but I think it has the potential to assist a good number of believers. It is no where near completion at this stage, but I am slowly getting there. Find the School of Theology at:
http://particularbaptist.com/theology/nrbcsotheology.html
I have also attempted to make the best of what is available on the web accessible through an online 'library.' In reality it's a library of links to good theological resources that are on the web. I have just completed an update of the library, removing all the old dead links. Hopefully I'll be able to add a lot more links in the near future. Visit the library at:

THE ALMOST CHRISTIAN - George Whitefield:
An almost Christian, if we consider him in respect to his duty to God, is one that halts between two opinions; that wavers between Christ and the world; that would reconcile God and Mammon, light and darkness, Christ and Belial. It is true, he has an inclination to religion, but then he is very cautious how he goes too far in it: his false heart is always crying out, Spare thyself, do thyself no harm. He prays indeed that “God’s will may be done on earth, as it is in heaven.” But notwithstanding, he is very partial in his obedience, and fondly hopes that God will not be extreme to mark everything that he wilfully does amiss; though an inspired apostle has told him, that “he who offends in one point is guilty of all.” But chiefly, he is one that depends much on outward ordinances, and on that account looks upon himself as righteous, and despises others - though at the same time he is as great a stranger to the divine life as any other person whatsoever! In short, he is fond of the form, but never experiences the power of godliness in his heart. He goes on year after year, attending on the means of grace, but then, like Pharaoh’s lean kine, he is never the better, but rather the worse for them.

TRUE COURAGE (Stonewall Jackson) - R. L. Dabney:
Courage is the opposite of fear. But fear may be described either as a feeling and appreciation of existing danger, or an undue yielding to that feeling. It is in the latter sense that it is unworthy. In the former, it is the necessary result of the natural desire for well-being, in a creature endued with reflection and forecast. Hence a true courage implies the existence of fear in the form of sense, that is, of a feeling of danger. For courage is but the overcoming of that feeling by a worthier motive. A danger unfelt is as though it did not exist. No man could be called brave for advancing coolly upon a risk of which he was totally unconscious. It is only where there is an exertion of fortitude in bearing up against the consciousness of peril, that true courage has place. If there is any man who can literally say that “he knows no fear,” then he deserves no credit for his composure. True, a generous fortitude, in resisting the consciousness of danger, will partly extinguish it, so that a sensibility to it, over-sensitive and prominent among the emotions, is an indication of a mean self-love.
